After weeks in the critical development stage, almost all of baby's systems are fully formed. ~~thebump.com

Almost out of the 1st trimester, whoo hoo!!! I guess some people would say that I'm in the 2nd trimester, but most literature I've read says 13w3d is the start of the 2nd trimester. So, a little over a week left!!! I'm waiting for this burst of energy to come, hopefully, soon! I bought my first pair of maternity jeans on Friday, they're soooo comfy!!! My regular jeans fit, they're just a little snug. I go back to the Dr's on the 29th, hopefully we'll get to hear the HB on the doppler!!!!

On a more serious note, I've been exposed to the H1N1 flu. Shit, crap. On Saturday, I attended a dear friend's daughters' birthday party. Well, I find out when I get there that said friends' niece has the swine flu and though her niece wasn't there, the niece's 2 sisters were and friends mother and sister who were exposed were there. Then, I find out last night that my friend and her daughter were diagnosed with swine flu yesterday!!! Friend has a husband and newborn son that are OK so far, but who knows, they'll probably get it, too!!! I'm freaking out b/c the statistics of the swine flu and pregnant women are staggering!!! I've received the seasonal flu vaccine, but my work does not have the H1N1 vaccine, yet. My friend asked her doctor about me and they said that since she wasn't coughing or sneezing around me and her daughter didn't get too close to me, that I should be OK. I guess I'm going to have to be on full alert. I feel fine, but they did say it takes up to 2 weeks to incubate, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Week 10: Prune

With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, baby is making major progress. It was so cool how in just 2 weeks time B-Helt went from a blob to looking like an actual baby!!! I'll post the u/s picture sometime. We do have to go back on the 28th for ANOTHER u/s b/c the tech couldn't get a "good" picture of B-Helt. Everything looks great, except B-Helt is measuring behind at 5w4d. All the u/s tech could find was a sac, nothing else. Now, according to my LMP, I should be almost 7wks, so I was freaking out at the doctor's office. My doctor and the tech explained that I probably ovulated later and then implanted later (which is most likely true.), I don't know when I O'd b/c I wasn't keeping track ( I quit doing that, remember?). So I have to go back in 2 weeks for another u/s. I'm trying to stay calm, but I'm freaking out. So, for now, I switched my ticker to reflect how far along I am now. I may be changing it back after our next u/s.

It makes sense that I would be measuring behind b/c when I was keeping track, I would O on CD 20 with an 11 day luteal phase. I must have O'd sometime btwn Aug 2nd and Aug 6th b/c I got my first BFP on Aug 16th and it was so faint I could barely see the line. I'm going to hold on to that thought. I am KTFU!!! We found out last Sunday (2 days before my b-day!). We are over the moon!!!! We told our parents last night and they were beyond thrilled!!! My mom started jumping up and down and screaming. It was quite hilarious!!! Gary's mom stood there and cried and kept saying, "oh my God!!!" She said we made her year :). We called both sets of my grandparents and they were thrilled as well. My mom called her sister, my Aunty Debbie, and she and my cousin, Jessie started screaming over the phone. I loved hearing and seeing every one's reactions!!!

I went to the doctor this past Friday where they confirmed the pregnancy, did a urine sample/culture and then I had some blood drawn (4 vials worth!). I got a ton of goodies and I signed up for some free stuff as well. We go 8/31 for our first ultrasound. I can't wait!!!!

So far I feel OK, but tired, alllll the time!!! I really had no idea what fatigue was until now!! My boobs are.so.sore. it's not even funny. I feel like it's worse at night, too. I do feel somewhat nauseated in the morning and when I try to eat something, I feel I may vomit, but I haven't yet. I will keep you all posted on all the details to come!!!

If anyone reading this knows me IRL, please, please, please don't say anything!!! I don't want this all over Facebook yet. I must say, we had a wonderful time. It was not relaxing at all!! We were go, go, go the whole week, but we still had fun. We got home on Saturday night around 8:45pm. Poor Gary had to be at work on Sunday and 10am!!! I go back to work tomorrow, boo :(!!!! The dogs stayed with my parents and they had a great time, too!!! When we went to pick them up, we walked into my parents house and Baxter and Gigi just kind of stared at us like, 'who the hell are these people?' My first dog, Sammy, was more excited to see us than our dogs were!!! We were so happy to bring them home, we missed them soooo much. I cried like a baby when we dropped them off at my parents'!!!!

The water in Panama City Beach is breathtaking. It's the gulf so it was really calm and you could see all the way down to the bottom. This was my first trip EVER to the state of Florida ::gasp:: (that's right, I have never been to Disney or did the spring break thing, please feel sorry for me). We ate out every night except for Monday, Gary grilled out that night for all of us. Our two favorite places were Five Guys Burgers and Fries (which is coming to the NKY area in the near future, YES!!!) and Mellow Mushroom, a pizza place. The closest Mellow Mushroom to us is in Lexington and I've eaten at that one. It's tha shit!!!! Hands down the best effing pizza I've ever eaten (and trust me, I've eaten a LOT of pizza!!!). I drank the best 32oz pina colada at Pineapple Willy's (it came in a 32oz souvenir cup). It was so hard to come home, but that's what happens when you go on vacation, you have to leave. Gary and I decided that as long as money allows it, we will going on vacay every year.

So, on the TTC front, still not KTFU. I was 'hoping' that this cycle would be the one (b/c vacation sex is the best sex EVER!!). AF is actually due today, but I POAS this morning and got a BFFN. So, I'm now waiting impatiently for that bitch to show up.

I promise not to be so neglectful of my blog. I know that there's two of you out there who actually read it ;). I brought up the fact that I've been off of the Pill for about a year now and haven't gotten pregnant. The first question she asked was, "When are you having intercourse?" I kind of laughed and said, "Well, I'm hoping that's the problem." Then went on to explain my work schedule and how working nights was not conducive to conceiving a child and we're working on that. She asked how my cycles were and I explained the except for that 39 day cycle back in January, they've been every 30-31 days, and that I've been also temping and using OPKs. She asked if I was getting positives from those and what not, I said, yes I was, blah blah blah. Basically a lot of back and forth questions. She said based on the info I was giving her, she believes that I'm ovulating and about 4 days before O time approaches to try and have intercourse every other to every day (obviously, I know that). I also explained that I've only been temping and using OPKs since November, so she said to try and give it a few more months and that if I'm not pregnant by November, that we will start looking at other things. She talked about an SA for Gary and an HSG for me to check and see if my tubes are open, she also mentioned clomid. My exam was benign, however she did comment that my cervix was extremely high (on cycle day 18, I usually ovulate around cycle day 20 or so). As she was walking out of the exam room, she reiterated about waiting till November then said, "Don't worry, we'll get you pregnant." So here's hoping!

By the way, I got a positive OPK on Friday and Saturday, woo hoo!!!

Fun in the Sun

Gary and I decided to go on vacation this year. We had been going back and forth for a while and I thought that we had decided that we had too much on our plate to take a vacay. However, we have been so stressed out over the whole TTC thing that we decided that we MUST take a vacation. We haven't been on one since our honeymoon over 2 years ago. So, the first week in August, we're going to Panama City, Florida. We can't wait!!! This will be my first trip ever to Florida, yup, that's right, I've never been!!!! We will be going with Gary's sister, Megan, her boyfriend, Freddy, his daughter, Skylar and their cousin and her family. We will be staying at a different place then them, but we'll be close by.

Gary and I decided to put TTC on hold for now. He really wants to get our deck finished and some other stuff done and he doesn't want the added stress of trying for a baby. It shouldn't be stressful, but it is!!! I quit temping and using OPK's, I'm done with it all. I might use OPK's once we get back on track, but I haven't decided yet.

New Toy!!!!!!!

This is my new car, isn't she beautiful!!! It's a 2009 Nissan Altima, I got her on Sunday. I currently drive a 2006 Toyota Highlander, but my lease is up next month. So on Saturday, Gary and I went to the dealer where I leased the Highlander to look at our options and test drive some cars. Well, they weren't willing to work with us at all (I really don't want to go into detail, but I should have NEVER got that Highlander from them in the first place). Any who, so we went to another Toyota dealer, and again, they couldn't help us. So, we drove across the street to Nissan and they were very willing to work with us and I fell in love as well!!! It's been an adjustment going from an SUV back to a sedan, but I feel so cool when I drive it!!! It's sporty-looking and so sleek!!!! I got the 2.5 S convenience plus package which included the moon-roof and alloy wheels (I MUST have a moon-roof). The radio and volume controls are on the steering wheel, it has a gauge that tells me my MPG, when I'm due for an oil change, tire rotation, etc. It's even key less!!!!!! As long as I have their key fob in my possession I can unlock the doors, trunk and just push a button and the car starts!!!! I feel so high tech!!! I'm leasing this car as well, but I kind of like that, I get a new car every 3 years!!!!

Beam me up, Scottie

Yup, that's right, I have seen the new Star Trek movie. Having never seen any of the original ones, (I'm a Star Wars gal) I must say it was an excellent movie. It was action packed and a little sad, (I'll admit, I was crying within the first 15 minutes!). It had it's funny, tongue-in-cheek moments as well. There was one particular moment that really wasn't funny, but I couldn't help but giggle. It started out with: "Captain's Log." It was then I was reminded of Jim Carey's monologue in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective when he first enters the empty dolphin tank (which I am thoroughly embarrassed to admit that I know all the words). So, here we go:
[as Captain Kirk] "Captain's Log, stardate 23.9, rounded off to the... nearest decimal point. We've... traveled back in time to save an ancient species from... total annihilation. SO FAR... no... signs of aquatic life, but I'm going to find it. Well, since then we have been trying to protect the rest of the babies and watching the dogs like hawks while they are in the backyard.

Well, today, I was outside in the driveway with the glass guy, and the dogs were in the back (I have a crack in my windshield and it needs to be replaced before my lease is up, repair wasn't going to work). Anyways, when that was finished, I went to the back door and saw Baxter and Gigi huddled together, then I saw something hop. I went ballistic!!!! I ran outside and started yelling at the dogs to get back, then went to inspect the damage. The bunny didn't have a scratch on it, but it was dead :'(, I guess one of them snapped its' neck. So, I went to check the nest and it was empty. I found two more bunnies (alive, thank the Lord!) hiding in the grass near the nest. Well, one of them hopped away and I couldn't find it. So, I called Gary at work hysterical asking him what to do. I had to scoop the dead one up in a bag and throw it away :'(. I tried to round up the last one to put it back in the nest, but he/she scampered off under our deck, then I don't know where it went. It's probably hiding in our grass (it's in desperate need of mowing, so it's kinda long right now.) Now I'm terrified to let my dogs out, that bunny is out numbered!!! Those poor bunnies really never had a chance, there's wild animals all over the place here!!!!!!

New layout

You likey??? My husband is the most amazing man I've ever known. I love him so much, he's been such a trooper through this whole TTC journey. Mention the person who nominated you (above).
2. List six unimportant things that make you happy
3. Tag six blogs, state the rules & notify them with a teeny comment on their blog.

So, here are the six unimportant things that make me happy:

1.) Sleeping. I absolutely love to sleep. When I worked night shift, that is all I did. Hence the reason I'm no longer working nights, I had no life! (now I realize that sounds kind of lame, but if you have ever worked nights, you learn to appreciate your sleep.)

2.) Wendy's spicy chicken sandwiches and Panera Bread's french onion soup. It's actually an addiction, I should seek professional help :)

3.) Checking my facebook account for messages, wall comments or picture comments. I am seriously on Facebook 100 times a day!!!

4.) Shopping at Target....actually, just shopping in general makes me happy!!!

5.) Pedicures. I love to make my toes look pretty and also I love getting my feet and legs massaged!!!!

6.) Reading. I love to escape into the fictitious worlds of vampires, wizards, love stories and the like. Once I start a book it consumes me and I can't do anything else until I finish it!!!!

Now I'm supposed to tag 6 other bloggers. I don't really know any other bloggers out there (except for you, Stacie :) ). I do blog stalk other people, but they don't know me. So, I'll just have to end it here. This was fun!!!!

Forgive me blogger, for I have sinned.

Sorry that I have been MIA for the past few weeks. It's been really busy adjusting to the new work schedule. Which, I must say is going FANTASTIC!!!!!! I'm able to fall asleep at night and stay asleep!!! My new bed time is around 10pm now and if I stay up late, it's only till about 1am. I feel so much better, I'm not depressed nor do I feel hungover whenever I wake up. I feel more motivated to do shit. However, I will admit that I miss staying up late (I DON'T miss sleeping all day), and I prefer the personalities of my night shift co-workers to my day shifters (day shift is very high strung and always in your business, night shift is much more laid back). I am going to stick with day shift, I feel like a new woman!!!!

Still not pregnant, no 2009 baby for us. Oh well, I'm kind of relieved b/c had I gotten KTFU this cycle the kid would have been due Christmas Day (but we would have been thrilled if we had though!!!) I put interview in quotes b/c it really wasn't one. I met with HR and when I met with my manager we just sat and chatted about what I had been up to this past year. I saw people I used to work with and some newbs as well. I'm really excited to go back to my "home." Not much has changed so hopefully it'll be like riding a bike. I'm putting in my notice at my current job tomorrow and should be starting back at Christ Hospital at the beginning of April (I'm taking a small vaca prior to starting the new job).

p.s. I'm almost positive that I have the job, but since I've been gone for over a year, I have to interview with HR and meet with my manager. If I get the job I'm going to work straight days, I've been working night shift for about 5 years and I need a break.....all I do is sleep (not that sleeping is a bad thing). However, I feel that there is something wrong when you cannot fall asleep before the sun comes up (yup, that's me). I'm so ready to be done with Children's....if I hear about one more child dying or one more shaken baby, I'm going to scream!!!!!!! My husband has a guys camp out every year and this is the weekend. He's taken our dogs so I have no responsibilities, yay!!! Unfortunately, I will be working Saturday and Sunday night so today is my only "me" day. I miss him terribly when he goes away, but I know he needs his 'guy time.' It's called the 'beer drinkers ball,' BDB for short and it's basically a bunch of guys getting together to drink beer, eat meat, drink more beer, and hang out. From what I hear it's a good time. I really have no plans for today, I may go grab some lunch at Panera Bread. I thought about getting a Pedicure (haven't had one of those in a loooooonnngg time!). Not really sure, though.

I do have some news....I've decided to switch jobs, again. For the past year I've worked at a Pediatric hospital in the Cardiac ICU (kids born w/ heart defects) and even though I have learned a lot and met a lot of great people, I realized that peds isn't for me. It's too depressing to see kids (babies) die. So, I'm going back to what I know, adult cardiac ICU....it's where I started and I guess that's where I'm going to stay for the time being. I left b/c it's all I've ever done and I wanted a change. However, sometimes the grass isn't always greener.....I realize that I'm probably going to get my ass kicked and I'm probably going to hate it, but this is what I want. I talked to my old manager today, so hopefully the ball gets going soon. The sooner I'm out of Children's the better. I'll keep you all posted!

She's here

and she brought luggage. I've been off the pill since June and at first my cycles were every 27 days, then they got longer, obviously. The longest cycle before this one was 34 days (in October), no biggie. So now, here we are cycle day 36 and nothing. I can usually predict down to the hour when AF is supposed to start, but she has me really stumped right now. I *think* I ovulated sometime between 1/21 and 1/25 (I did not chart this cycle...stupid, I know.....but I got really sick around Christmas and quit temping then b/c I was febrile and I never got back on it). So my plan was when AF started this cycle, to start temping again. All of the "symptoms" I'm experiencing: wicked heartburn, sore boobs, cramping(all last week, mind you), moodiness, constipation, etc have me quite confused (I get a lot of these symptoms before AF, too). I'm freaking out b/c this has never happened. Before I went on the pill (almost 10 yrs ago), I was regular and had no issues. Yes, I know it can take up to a year for your cycle to get regulated after the pill, but I thought that after over six months of regularity, it wouldn't all of a sudden wig out!!! So, I'm pretty sure that I'm not KU. My two other theories are that: A.) I ovulated later or B.) I didn't ovulate at all. So, I guess if AF doesn't show by the end of the week, I'll call the doctor. Thanks for listening, sorry if I bored any of you ;)

French onion soup

I am obsessed with Panera Bread's french onion soup. Here it is from the blog: easypeasyrecipesnow.blogspot.com

Hints: follow the recipe just like it says, you do not need to add anything to doctor it up. Also instead of focaccia, I just bought one of those long french bread baguettes, cut it up into small pieces, spread butter on the pieces and baked like it says to. I also used Kroger brand broth as well, no need to spend the extra money ;)

French Onion Soup
FRENCH ONION SOUP LIKE PANERA BREAD

FOR THE ONIONS:1/4 cup butter
4 medium yellow onions, sliced

FOR THE SOUP:
2 cans (14 oz each) (Swanson) beef broth
3/4 cup (Swanson) chicken broth
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups water
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 1/2 teaspoons fresh ground black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
2 drops Tabasco sauce

FOR THE GARNISH:
Focaccia (or other bread) (for croutons)
shaved Asiago Cheese

TO PREPARE THE ONIONS: Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. When the butter is melted, add sliced onions and saute for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring often, until onions turn brown.

TO MAKE THE SOUP: Add remaining ingredients for the soup to the pan and stir to combine. Bake the bread in a 425 degree oven for 15 minutes or until crispy.

TO SERVE: Serve the soup super hot with a handful of croutons floating on top followed by a couple tablespoons of shaved Asiago cheese.

Why can't I find a new job????

I thought health care jobs were still in demand??? They must be, because all the hospitals around me have RN job postings. SO WHY AREN'T ANY OF YOU CALLING ME BACK?????? I don't get it. I had a partial interview at one facility on New Year's Eve (the manager of the unit was unavailable to interview me). They were supposed to call me back for the second part of my interview....that hasn't happened. I've called and left multiple messages....and still no call. I've put in multiple applications to a former employer...you would think that since I have already worked there they would want me back. I don't know what to do. I wish a new job would fall from the sky. I really need to get out of my current job, it's really starting to get to me....

On a more postive note....the new Vera Bradley patterns are out in the stores. I saw them yesterday and they are FABULOUS!!!! My favorite is the cupcakes pink, it's to die for!!! The husband says I have to wait a couple of paychecks...ya know, bills and stuff come first. I'm ok with waiting, the patterns are more spring-y and it doesn't look like spring will be here any time soon.

I heart new stuff.

I love to shop. However, today I can't stop screwing around with this blog...I can't decide what background I want, there are so many cute ones on this one website thecutestblogontheblock.com. AHHH decisions, decisions. I think I have picked one I'll keep for a little bit ;) I'm sure I'll change my mind in a day or two. OK, I'm starting to fall asleep, I'd better get my ass to bed. I swore I would never do this, but here I am. This will be my place for rambling and talking about nothing.

I guess I could tell ya'll a little bit about myself. I am a registered nurse and I absolutely love what I do, I work with kids, mainly babies with cardiac defects. I'm in the process of looking for a new job because working with these cardiac kids is starting to affect me. It's way different then working with adults....kids aren't supposed to get sick and die (please don't take offense to that comment, hopefully you know what I mean)....

Anywho, on to something less depressing. I've been with my husband for over 10 years, we met in high school while working at Kroger. We've been married since April 2007. We built a house in 2006 in a nice subdivision. As of today we are still trying to get it in order....I swear we have so many unfinished projects it's not even funny. Painting, curtain hanging, wall decor, shit we still have to put the railing and stairs on our deck....which we started back in April, yeah, I know. By the time we get this house in order, we'll be ready to move out!!! Moving on, I could go on about my house forever.

We have two dogs, a Border Collie named Baxter and a Min Pin named GiGi. Let me tell you, if we just had GiGi, our lives would be boring. Baxter is the entertainment in our house. I don't know if any of you know anything about border collies, but if you don't, please come talk to me before you get one. I really wish we had done more research before getting Baxter. Now, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade Baxter for anything, it's just that he is so.high.maintenance. My husband describes him like a shark, as in, he can't ever stop moving or he'll die (not really!). Seriously, the dog never stops. He must be entertained at all times or he'll find things to entertain himself. He has this obsession with lights....I kid you not. It could be any light reflection. For example: when I get a cookie sheet out to use, the metal reflects onto the ceiling. Baxter goes batshit crazy and starts whinning and he brings his bone or whatever he can find to it, like it's his god. It's quite humorous, I've never seen a dog act like that before. I'm sure I will have tons of Baxter stories for you to enjoy.

Now that we've been married for almost 2 years, my husband and I have decided to start a family. At first we were going to just 'let things happen.' Um...no, that's easier said than done. I haven't decided how much detail I'm going to go into all of this because I'm not sure who is going to read this blog.

So, that's me pretty much in a nut shell. Hope you all enjoy my blog!!!
