Week 12: Plum

As you move into the second trimester, baby shifts into the growth and maturation stage. After weeks in the critical development stage, almost all of baby's systems are fully formed. ~~
thebump.com

Almost out of the 1st trimester, whoo hoo!!! I guess some people would say that I'm in the 2nd trimester, but most literature I've read says 13w3d is the start of the 2nd trimester. So, a little over a week left!!! I'm waiting for this burst of energy to come, hopefully, soon! I bought my first pair of maternity jeans on Friday, they're soooo comfy!!! My regular jeans fit, they're just a little snug. I go back to the Dr's on the 29th, hopefully we'll get to hear the HB on the doppler!!!!

On a more serious note, I've been exposed to the H1N1 flu. Shit, crap. On Saturday, I attended a dear friend's daughters' birthday party. Well, I find out when I get there that said friends' niece has the swine flu and though her niece wasn't there, the niece's 2 sisters were and friends mother and sister who were exposed were there. Then, I find out last night that my friend and her daughter were diagnosed with swine flu yesterday!!! Friend has a husband and newborn son that are OK so far, but who knows, they'll probably get it, too!!! I'm freaking out b/c the statistics of the swine flu and pregnant women are staggering!!! I've received the seasonal flu vaccine, but my work does not have the H1N1 vaccine, yet. My friend asked her doctor about me and they said that since she wasn't coughing or sneezing around me and her daughter didn't get too close to me, that I should be OK. I guess I'm going to have to be on full alert. I feel fine, but they did say it takes up to 2 weeks to incubate, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Week 10: Prune

With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, baby is making major progress. Body length will almost double in the next three weeks, and arm joints are now working. (Soon, legs will too.) ~~ from thebump.com

I skipped week 9, sorry. I have no motivation to do anything. We had our 3rd u/s last Monday and everything looked perfect. Only one babe in there (thank goodness!). The heartbeat was 174bpm (my mom's convinced it's a girl). It was so cool how in just 2 weeks time B-Helt went from a blob to looking like an actual baby!!! I'll post the u/s picture sometime. I go back to the doctor's on the 29th and hopefully we'll be able to hear the HB on the doppler!!!! Well, that's all I've got for now!! See ya!!

Week 8: Raspberry Your baby is growing like mad, putting on about a millimeter every day and continuing to straighten out in the trunk. Though you can't feel it yet, baby is moving those little arms, legs and (now only slightly) webbed fingers and toes like crazy. ~~thebump.com

I'm actually 8wk3d today, a little behind on the update. We go back to the doctor's Monday for another u/s, wish us luck!!!!

Introducing....

B-Helt aka the blob!!!! Sorry it's blurry, it's a picture of a picture (I'm not sure how to use our scanner). The heartbeat is strong at 154 bpm. It was so cool seeing it flicker on the screen. So, the official due date is May 3, 2010 so I'll be changing my ticker for the 3rd and hopefully final time. We do have to go back on the 28th for ANOTHER u/s b/c the tech couldn't get a "good" picture of B-Helt. The doctor came in after we were done and reassured us the everything looked good, perfect HB, etc, but they want us to come back in 2 weeks to get a better picture and to make sure that THERE'S ONLY ONE BABY IN THERE!!!! Holy crap! Twins would be a blessing, but lets hope and pray there's only one in there. You would think that they'd be able to tell by now, no??? Oh well, I'm glad that they're being extra careful. I will keep you all updated!!!

Week 7: Blueberry

Baby's brain -- both hemispheres! -- is growing fast, generating about 100 new cells every minute. Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form, and a permanent set of kidneys (baby's third!) is now in place. ~~ TheBump.com

Nothing really new to report. Still feeling blah. We have our 2nd u/s on Tuesday at 0945, I can't wait!!!

I don't know if I had mentioned this yet but we're NOT going to find out the sex of B-Helt. It took me a lot of convincing, but I have come to terms with it and I am OK with not finding out. As long as the babe is healthy, that's all that matters!!!!

u/s today

We had our first ultrasound today. Everything looks great, except B-Helt is measuring behind at 5w4d. All the u/s tech could find was a sac, nothing else. Now, according to my LMP, I should be almost 7wks, so I was freaking out at the doctor's office. My doctor and the tech explained that I probably ovulated later and then implanted later (which is most likely true.), I don't know when I O'd b/c I wasn't keeping track ( I quit doing that, remember?). So I have to go back in 2 weeks for another u/s. I'm trying to stay calm, but I'm freaking out. So, for now, I switched my ticker to reflect how far along I am now. I may be changing it back after our next u/s.

It makes sense that I would be measuring behind b/c when I was keeping track, I would O on CD 20 with an 11 day luteal phase. I must have O'd sometime btwn Aug 2nd and Aug 6th b/c I got my first BFP on Aug 16th and it was so faint I could barely see the line. I'm going to hold on to that thought. So, for only being 5w4d, everything is as it should be. I will keep you all posted. Thank you for letting me ramble!!!!

Week 6: Sweet Pea

This is how big B-Helt is right now!!! "Growing like crazy, baby is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks and chin. Those little hands and feet- still webbed like paddles- might wiggle by week's end, the heart is beating (almost twice as fast as yours!), and blood is starting to circulate."~~from TheBump.com

We go for our first ultrasound on Monday!! We're so excited, but I'm freaking out. I'm terrified that there won't be a heartbeat. I know I have to think positive, but I'm still afraid.
As far as symptoms go, my boobs are still extremely sore, and all I want to do is sleep. No m/s, yet (knock on wood), just some early morning gagging!! Work has been pretty rough for me, my back hurts soooo bad by the time I leave....I can't imagine what it's going to be like when I'm 9mos PG!!!!

I will keep you all updated on how the U/S goes!!!
